The prophet Jeremiah says: “I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope.”
As we come to the end of another year and look forward to a new one, we ask God to come to us and protect and save us with His Love.
Though some of us had a difficult year because of losing a family member or a friend, we have been blessed by the Lord with the gift of life. We witnessed the dedication of many community members that sacrificed their time to support and serve the whole parish. All parish organizations and other social groups did their best to come together to keep the faith strong and enhance the Christian and human values among all the parishioners, especially in the young generations.
We gratefully acknowledge especially those parents, teachers and volunteers who teach the Word of God to the children so they may understand and live the Love of our Lord in their own lives.
The canonization of Saint John Baptist Scalabrini and the establishment of a parish organization to support our brothers and sisters who suffer the difficulties of migration are signs that God is working through people of good will. The religious celebrations and social events helped us to come closer to each other and to see ourselves as instruments of God serving the needs of the least among us. There were parishioners that generously helped other communities in need. This is a truly Christian example of opening one´s heart for the care of all our brothers and sisters.
At the beginning of this new year, let us renew our commitment and continue to make the Light of Jesus grow in brightness so more people can join us in praising our Savior.
We start the New Year with the celebration of Mary Mother of God and the 56th World Day of Peace. Mary is the Queen of Peace and also the Mother of the Church, our Mother. She suffers and cries when she sees the families and children being killed in Ukraine and in our own country. As a mother she wants us to pray and do whatever we can to bring Peace and Hope to our world by starting in our own families and parish communities.
Blessed New Year to all!
