Guidelines for Celebration of Mass and Holy Communion

Below are the recommended guidelines from Archdiocese of Washington for the celebration of Mass and Holy Communion. Please note that these guidelines are also applicable to other parish liturgical events such as weddings, funerals and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Health and Hygiene Considerations:

• Starting 1 March in the District of Columbia, the wearing of a mask is no longer mandated. Parishioners are encouraged to wear a mask based on their personal preference, informed by their personal level of risk at Mass and any indoor event at the Parish. 
• The use of masks by ordinary and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion while distributing Holy Communion, vaccinated and non-vaccinated, is required during the distribution. 
• Liturgical celebrations no longer need to abide by capacity restrictions.
• Per archdiocesan policy, social distancing is still encouraged between individuals from separate households for indoor gatherings as follows:

These guidelines are subject to change based on any future updates from the District of Columbia, the Archdiocese of Washington or from what the Pastor deems necessary for the safety and protection of all in our community.

Archdiocese of Washington Guidelines for Celebration of Mass & Holy Communion

Guidelines specific to Holy Rosary Chuch:

• Parishioners are encouraged to wear a mask based on their personal preference, informed by their personal level of risk at Mass and while indoors in all Holy Rosary Church facilities, including Casa Italiana, the Rectory Building and the school annex.
• Ordinary and extraordinary ministers of Communion are required to wear masks during distribution of Communion.
• Social distancing is still encouraged indoors.
• Sanitizing of the Church will continue after all Masses.
• Church’s center doors only will continue to be used before Mass/exiting after Mass.  Please follow the instructions/directions of the Volunteers at the Entrance and of the Ushers.
• Sanitizing/Disinfecting of hands upon entering the Church: everyone must continue to disinfect their hands with the hand sanitizer at the entrance.
• Anyone with a fever/temperature of 100 or above must cancel their visit to our Parish and must seek appropriate medical attention. 
• Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from other people, especially if you are at higher risk of getting very sick.
• Positive COVID-19 Test:  If anyone tests positive for COVID-19, please IMMEDIATELY notify Father Sergio Dall’Agnese, our Pastor, so that appropriate action may be taken.  This information will be kept in complete confidence.
